Michael Herman, DVM
Dr. Herman is a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and been in practice for 18 years. He is the Medical Director and partner of Northern Valley Animal Clinic. Dr. Herman joined the staff at Northern Valley Animal Clinic in 1989 when he retuned to his home town of Rochester, following a position as a laboratory director and associate small animal veterinarian in San Francisco. His main areas of interest are in small animal internal medicine.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and their many pets which include 3 dogs, 6 cats and 2 horses. Dr. Herman says he is privileged to have the best dog in the world, his Golden Retriever named "Claire".

Dr. Treder earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences and went on to graduate with a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a native of Rochester, and has been practicing as a veterinarian for 15 years, most of which has been spent at Northern Valley Animal Clinic. Dr. Treder has been prolific in orthopedic surgery and recognizes the tremendous advancements in patient comfort that laser technology now provides. Dr. Treder concentrates on developing long-term relationships with his clients and their pets.
In his spare time, he especially enjoys spending time with his wife and their son & daughter, vacationing together, skiing and camping. He is also involved in various school and youth sporting activities as well as coaching. Their family also includes a large Siamese cat named "Tinkerbell" with attitude!
Mary McKie, DVM
Dr. McKie earned a B.S. in chemistry from Furman University and an M.S. from Cornell University, and is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include small animal medicine and surgery, and public health. Dr. McKie enjoys meeting new patients and clients. As a St Paul native, she is quickly learning to love Rochester!
In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, reading, and traveling. She is the biggest Twins fan at Northern Valley! Dr. McKie and her husband have a tabby cat, Saba, and an old English sheepdog, Blue, who is always making them laugh.
